From Loe Babauta's nenhabits.net blog:
A lot of us get stuck in inaction, procrastinating and doing unimportant tasks to avoid the important stuff, worrying about failing or not being perfect, having a hard time starting, getting distracted, and so on.
It is time to form the action habit instead.
1. What are your key actions. Quick, what are your top three actions for today?
2. Pick a key action and quickly visualize the outcome, how it will look when done. Don't spend much time on this, just make a quick picture in your mind.
3. Start, just start. Make "do it now" your mantra. Strip away everything but the task, or the smallest part of the task that you can do now and do it.
4. Focus on the moment, be in the task. Don't worry about the future or mistakes, focus, immerse yourself.
5. Get it done, complete the task. Then feel good about it and pat yourself on the back!
Now, onto the next task. Get in the habit of getting things done.
