My fiance' just started on new meds after I noticed a pattern of 3 manic episodes over the last several months of our dating. First of all, he lied to me about his financial situation and his Christianity when we me. He had been diagnosed with bipolar but was not taking meds as prescribed because they made him too groggy for work. He works shift work and has for 23 years, which is getting harder for him to do. Meanwhile, he is not working, either sleeping all day or up all night indulging himself in non-productive activities such as drinking caffeinated beverages before bed... What I see is a lazy, unproductive person who doesn't want to go to work...I know this isn't the whole truth, but I am having a hard time being supportive and compassionate right now...help??
