As a sign of hope it has become widespread in art and culture across the globe. Crosses are found by the sides of the road, on church towers, and on mountain summits, as well as on jewelry chains. The horizontal one of the two beams of the Cross is often seen as a symbol for unity among humans, whereas the vertical represents humankind's relationship to God.
