Today marks the tenth anniversary of the death of my friend Chris who died at the age of 20 in a car accident. He was like a son to me and a part of my family. We first met Chris through his mother when he was 15 and a troubled teen who had just lost his Dad. His mother worked with my husband when she asked him to talk to her son. A loving relationship started between them and eventually with our whole family. Chris was included in all our family functions and vacations too. I feel like a piece of my heart was ripped out the day he died. My husband died in October 2006 and I would like to think they are together but I just don't believe. I wish I did. It is a beautiful notion, but my brain won't accept it. I do believe they live on in our hearts. And today my heart is very full remembering this young man and keeping him alive.
