Hello all, I stumbled across this site and I am glad I did, it seems a great place. Apologies if I am posting in the wrong place.....
My Mum died 4 weeks ago to secondry breast cancer. She basically went in for a routine operation, and quickly deteriorated. She slipped away with me and my partner with her. The funeral has been and gone and me and my family are being strong for each other. I have my Dad, and my two sisters. I also have two children of my own age 7 and 6, and finding keeping a brave face for them really hard.
My partner, has two children from his previous marriage, and the youngest, little Joe has spent much of his 9 years in hospital. There were complications when his mum was prgnant with him, and means that Joe can't cope with infections as well as any other child. Over the last month or so, he has been admitted on a weekly basis, and this has had Mark (my partner) travelling 400 miles each way to be with him in the hospital. Its been an unbeleivebally stressful time for us both. We need each others support but have to be apart at this time.
I don't know when things are going to get better :(

A friend sent this to me..As far as I can see, grief will never truly end.It may become softer overtime, more gentleand some days will feel sharp. But grief will last as long as Love does - ForeverIt's simply the way the absence of your loved onemanifests in your heart. A deep longing accompaniedby the deepest Love some days. The heavy fog mayreturn and the next day, it may recede.Once again, it's...

Today is my 25th birthday, to my somewhat lack of surprise I can see already no one really seems to care. I've always been the kinda person to make sure that everyone I Care about feels appreciated and knew somebody had their back. I can count 4 times this year when I Went out of my way to make sure a "friend" felt good on their birthday, especially if they got left hanging. Its early in the...
My children are 3 & 5, and my 5 year old was totally on to me when my mother passed recently. She said to her grammy (my step-mother) "Mommy is sat since Grandma died, every time I ask her if she's sad she just laughs and changes the subject."
I'm sorry to hear that your partner can't be with you but I'm glad you found this site. I've been logging on here about a month, I'm glad I found it.
We're here for you.
I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your mum. Take care you get regulare mammograms done every year. Will you be able to get them since your mum had CA? Maybe too soon to talk about it, but so important for you to be sure to take care of yourself, too.
Make sure your children have a chance to express their feelings. One great way is to have them write a letter, and send it up to grandma in a balloon. You can all do it, and can be very helpful in letting go, if and when you're ready.
In these most hectic times, is the most important time, to make time for yourself.
Take a hot soaky bath, and extra nap, whatever can help you relax. Is there somone your partner can stay with in the town where the hospital is, to help cut down on driving? If you belong to a church, maybe a member can be contacted in that town who would be willing to visit the boy when dad can't be there.
to help cope with a loss. It's more spiritual than religious. The PERPETUALS page may especially help. Feel free to use it as a link.
