My dad just lost his wife of 20 years on September 25 due to an overdose on prescription pain killers. This was a problem that we have all been dealing with for years, she was put in rehab several times, and was going through therapy at the time of her death. The problem is my dad is completely lost and alone, he lives 3-4 hours away from me & my brother and has no family up there to help him. He is constantly blaming himself for her death and is a wreck. He just had a heart attack on August 23, so this stress is not good for him. Not to mention the fact that he has been drinking almost every day. I have tried everything to get him to come stay with us for a while to help him through his time of grief, but he is insisting on staying at his house, he continuosly makes excuses as to why he cannot leave. Any advice that anyone can give me on how to help him would be greatly appreciated.
