Guns n Roses, Knocking on Heaven's Door. I still cannot listen to the song. Maybe one day but not now. There were a few others including Amazing Grace but I lost it on the first song.

At my dad's service some 15 years ago we played Amazing Grace. That's just what you did back then. At my husbands memorial recently we played Mercy Me's I can Only Imagine because it was one of his favorites and he played it on his guitar often. Also, it was comforting to us to know he is in Heaven and doesn't have to imagine what it is like in God's presence cause he's already there. he always wondered what being in the presence of God would really be like and could not wait to find out and I can imagine him there now going---Wait till Jen gets here---This is really cool!!!!

At my Nanna's wake we played Phil Collins' 'You'll Be In My Heart'. To this day I can't hear it without crying. We used 'I Will Remember You' by Sarah MacLachlan at my Nono's wake. That song hardly has the same effect on me, only because I honestly hate that song. I associate the song 'Cancer' by My Chemical Romance with his passing, but it is NOT appropriate for a funeral or wake. 'Slipped Away' by Avril Lavigne helped me get through my Grandma Maggie's passing when I was 17, but then again, this is only therapeutic music, definitely NOT appropriate for a service.

Sorry to reply again, but I was reading through posts and saw one about a bagpiper. We had one at my Nanna's funeral. She was Scottish, so it was fitting. I don't know the name of the song he played, but I cried very hard.

At my moms i played bette middlers song, wind beneath my wings. I chose this song because its what my mom meant to me

At my boyfriend funeral someone sang: When the tears fall - Tim hughes, check it out!

Mom's funeral devastated me, since the cemetery did not have the grave ready. My Church had rule about hymns in English (service was Latin Mass).

But the two hymns I'd wanted were a hymn to the Blessed Mother, "Mother, at Thy Feet is Kneeling" (Mom loved that one); and the Italian song "Mama", which I'd planned to sing at gravesite (unbeknownst to anyone). I never got to sing either.

At my recent FIL's funeral we also played Josh Grobans, "You Raise Me Up" and at my fathers we played, "Our God is and Awesome God" at the very end.

at my FIL's funeral, the director said the most popular are the Josh Groban songs right now. I had already requested this to my MIL then she asked at the mortuary what was popular.
