It saddens me to report this...
But there are people on this board who are not being completely honest with us regarding their "loss."
I don't know if it is a sick cry for attention or if it is going to lead to some type of fraud.
BEWARE... never lend a helping hand in the form of money, services, nor use of a cell phone, apartment, or car until you check someone's facts THOROUGHLY.
If someone posted on the board that their friend/family member was slain during a mall shooting last week, then you can assume that since that happened, what they are saying might be true.
But if you read a posting regarding a loss that is so sensational that it would have had national news coverage - and you heard NOTHING about it iin the news or online, then you should question the motives of the person posting the message.
My daughter knew a woman who sent a sizable amount of money to someone in need that she met in an online community. Turns out, there was a lot of dishonesty - and to make a long story short, the woman who sent the money was being used.
Just be careful. No one wants to be used.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
I am here to grieve not hand out money. Thanks for the heads up.
Had a couple of dodgy messages myself - in very dodgy english I might add.
If anyone mentions money, just drop them.
Stay strong.

Thank you for posting this important reminder! There are people who "make up" stories of loss, very dramatic stories, and then join internet bereavement groups. Sometimes they come back over and over again with a new user name and new story each time.
