this would have been my mother's 80th birthday. she died 9/07. i think all of last year was spent in excessive business to ward off feelings, to just survive. i actually have no memory of last 9/9. not this year - none of "cushion" of denial. and also i know she's in a better place. she was being simply eaten up with cancer. my heart feels heavy.
