My husband is getting impatient after 10 days with no improvement and ear pain worsening. Someone mentioned to him getting an MRI to check for nerve damage. Has anyone had an MRI and found that it made a difference in treatment?

I had an MRI done after coming down with BP. The MRI does not affect how I am treated. However, it is useful in ruling out any possibilities for the reason behind the facial paralysis. The MRI simply proved that I do, indeed, have BP and showed that the nerve is inflamed. It ruled out any sort of tumor, as tumors can also cause facial paralysis when they irritate the nerve. The main point of the MRI is to ensure that you have the right diagnosis.

I had an MRI done for my brain and my spine to rule out any other issues like tumors, etc. My neurologist wanted to then do a spinal tap to confirm an ongoing viral infection in my face since I have had BP for almost a year now. I declined as it wasn't going to change anything and just didn't want to take it out of fear.

I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
