My husband has been a prisoner in the upstairs bedroom for 6 days awaiting an appt. with surgeon despite my pleas. I don't know how to descibe the exact problem with his low back but he has several bad disks and excruciating thigh and groin pain. Can't stand, sit, walk, etc for more than a minute. So, does anyone have any suggestions how I get him to his doctors appointment in two days????
His doctor said to rent a wheelchair... well, he can't sit upright for 10 seconds let alone 10 minutes. Besides, he's 6' 4" and I'm 5'4" and I have had a cervical fusion myself, degenerative shoulder and Crohns Disease.
How the heck am I going to get him out of the house, into the car, out of the car and into the 7 story building??
If anyone has had this experience your wisdom would be most appreciated!!

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
So, here's the rest of the story without all the exhausting details I hope...
Got him out of the house, into the car. He's in the back seat kneeling and hugging the seat. Luckily the Dr we are going to is attached to the hospital, wheelchair available there but not comfortable. Doc says you need a new MRI before I can make new recommendations so go home and we'll get pre-auth. and call you with appt info. Get home, he's up the stairs and laying on the floor, within minutes doc calls and says...MRI approved be there in one hour. Needless to say he wanted nothing to do with this as he was in so much pain but I forced it. So, back in the car, wheelchair, kneeling in the waiting room (how demoralizing is that?) After MRI, doc has called down again and said to send him right up. So back we go! More kneeling, this time in the hallway hugging the wheelchair. After second consult ...Result...3 level lumbar laminectomy and fusion scheduled for Nov 6. YEAH!!!!!!! I know he may not get the best result but this is not his first episode and nothing else has worked. So please wish him luck and keep us in your prayers.
Thanks for your support and I'll keep checking in. If anyone has any advice for this upcoming surgery I would love to know!
