I have had three back surgeries. Two lower lumbar fusions and one cervical fusion in my neck. My last lower lumbar fusion was in March of 2006. I felt pretty good for about four months after the surgery and then the pain started coming back again. I also started getting a marked increase in migraine headaches at this time. So, needless to say, I've been having a barrage of tests done -- the last week was a mylegram and post mylegram ct and then an mri of my upper back and neck. The y found that the screws and all the hardware in my lower backe from the fusions are causing inflamation and thats whats making my lower back hurts and he recomommends removing the hardware now that the back fusion has healed. But they found a more pressing problem in my neck that needs to be addressed first. I have a nerve that is being severly pinched in my neck right below the level of the fusion. The next disc has herniated and I have developed spurs in the area. The dr. has advised that we try a steroid injection in th at area and if that doens't work within a week's time, we do surgery on the neck. After we take care of the neck, which is the most pressing problem, then we'll deal with the back. Does anyone have andy advise for me? If you have been in a similar situation and have found something that works for you I would sure love to hear about it. Thaks.
