Back pain is one of the most common reasons people seek medical care. In fact, about 3 in 4 adults will experience back pain during their lifetime! The term back pain includes pain affecting the neck, midback and low back. Acute back pain may begin suddenly with intense pain but typically lasts fewer than three months. Can anyone tell if they have a problem with walking! I can walk a good bit, but if i go to a mall or walk to much in wal-mart or just in different places in town! My hips and my legs are hurting me so bad till I have no idea what to do with myself!! I'm 25 years old and found out about a year and 1/2 or so ago what was wrong with my back. But my doctor at the time also said there was nothing that could be done so there for she would not give me anything for pain, or tell what to use for pain. She told me not to use heat tho! I was told cold packs. If anyone has an ideas or can tell me what they do about there's hurting like this please let me know. I have had to limit myself on what and where i can go! I have a 5 year old child and I cant take her to a fair or wild adventures on any where cause it hurts me to do all that walking!! Please help me!!! Thanks

By chance, does ibuprofin work for you?

I would go to another doctor and get a second opinion. I have chronic pain and have problems walking in the mall or stores for a long period of time. I sit down for a bit and sometimes that helps....other times I have to go home and take percocet witch is a miracle if it works. I hope you will have luck with your doc if you can get a second opinion. Maybe look for an osteopathic manipulater. That is who I go to and he is awsome. They use muscle energy instead of cracking your back. I am not sure why you have back pain but it may be worth looking into. :)

Have you tried orthopedic shoes? They make some now that don't look like granny shoes. What about insoles?

i have more pain when i walk in stores and i have figured out over the years that it is because of the cement floors with when i did have to go to the store i would make sure i had my comfy shoes on and that helped a little bit. best of luck candy

Obviously if you have a lot of pain from your back you need to get with a dr that is willing to help you. I have a pinched nerve that goes down my left leg. Herniated disc causing pressure on my nerve. I am sure there are other alternative treatments for your pain. Ice/cold pack for the first 72 hrs 20 min an hour, then alternate to heat for 20 mins at a time. Hope this helps! God bless

Some people in here have great suggestions. Heat, IB Profen, and I think stretching each day helps. Also, I do yoga. It can sometimes be strenuous but don't give up. Eventually it does pay off. Good luck.

It is the cement floors and moving out of the way for others as well as bending to look at things probably is why it starts to feel worse. I work in a concrete facilty (10 sq miles of it) my body aches when i am at work. If I have to do a lot of bending or searching that day it kills me. Also shopping and looking at high shelves is not good at all. But I can hike thru the green belt for hours. Good shoes and good posture!!!!! Who knew our mom's were right!

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
