What to do at home

My son has been kicked out of daycare. I haven't been able to find him a new one yet and he has been out for three weeks. I do not want him to regress backwards. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do at home he's years old but he is at a level of a two year old. He doesn't know his colors or numbers or letters. I would like to be working on those with him. So please help me any suggestion willhelp alot. Thank you so much.
P.S. I love this site it's helped me a lot to understand that I have deal with normal things with a austic child. Thank you.

before sam got the official diagnosis, sam was also kicked out of headstart and the daycare. It's hard. One thing that helped was the blocks and numbers that are made out of the soft squishy material and repetition, repetition, repetition. We also have a picture schedule at home that at first were pictures only that he followed. the first few weeks were rough but he finally got on a routine. As far as colors, we got the washable paint and I let him finger paint and again repetition, It may be messy but he finally connected. hope this helps.

How about an intergrated preschool program. no daycare.
they will help you with everything!! Look into your school districts see what they have for children with special needs. :)

I agree with Stevensmom - my son goes to the preschool for the school district. It has special needs and mainstream kids there. I like any of the Leapfrog stuff for the alphabet. We have the DVD Letter Factory and I think that helped with Jacob learning the alphabet. Good luck!

Most deffinatly you need to get the public school to provide your child free and appropriate public education FAPE It is the federal law. Oli is a pre school drop out. He learns alot from computer games and he goes to a pre school that is a special integrated school that services 30% special kids and 70% typical kids. It is like a day care, but with a strong academic core program. He gets speech there too. You need to get as much info as you can to help with your decision because each child is different. Call to you neighborhood school and get the "Child Find" number for your district and get your kid enrolled.

Oli learned all the basic things from the computer. Use pbs.org and there are many discs out there. I have found several for $1
