I am a student a George Mason and am finishing my final year for my masters program. However, there is one challenge I am facing. I need to complete a thesis project, and it needs to be something original. I began researching what needs there were for children with autism, and in doing this research found a lot of information on how this diagnosis affects the parents. I completed a needs assessment on the effects of having a child with autism on the family. A lot of research states that parents of children with autism are at higher risk for depression and anxiety disorders and that there is a lack of support. I originally wanted to create an online support group, however, I am having trouble coming up with something original, because I have found a lot of online support groups. I would like to know if anyone has any suggestions on what is missing in terms of support for parents or families so that I may work from there. If you have any suggestions or comments please let me know, it would be very much appreciated!
