My daughter has been making progress in all areas - except speech. I know that all children on the Spectrum have speech and language comprehension delays(she is 2 1/2 and has PDD-NOS)but I feel that there is more to it. She will learn a new word, use it for a week or two and then forget the word. It seems as if she doesn't retain any new words. The only word that she uses consistently is "sit". She will bring someone over to a chair and say "sit" or "sit down". All other words are learned and then forgotten shortly thereafter. I did do some research and I found Semantic Pragmatic Disorder and CAPD (Central Auditory Processing Disorder) but it may be too early to diagnosis these particular disorders. Does anyone have a child with similar language patterns that can shed some light on this. Thanks!
