Autism is classified as a neurodevelopmental disorder which manifests itself in markedly abnormal social interaction, communication ability, patterns of interests, and patterns of behavior. Although the specific etiology of autism is unknown, many researchers suspect that autism results from genetically mediated vulnerabilities to environmental triggers.

Hi, My name is Courtney and I am a Special Education Major. It was actually a young boy with Autism who I spent one summer with a few years back as a counselor that made me decide I wanted to be a Special Education Major. I want to know as much as I can and would rather learn it from this discussion board and real life situations and feelings and thoughts than reading a book alone. I also have some activities that I have to complete for my Inclusion class that I am taking right now. If anyone is willing to answer a couple of questions for my class please message me on here. Your help is greatly appreciated!!

Thank you again!!
