Autism / Autism Spectrum Support Group
Autism is classified as a neurodevelopmental disorder which manifests itself in markedly abnormal social interaction, communication ability, patterns of interests, and patterns of behavior. Although the specific etiology of autism is unknown, many researchers suspect that autism results from genetically mediated vulnerabilities to environmental triggers.

hello. my 2yr old grandson has autism. he has been inproving over the last several months. they have him in several therapy groups which i can understand and i know it has helped him but now they have a doctor that says that he can no longer have his baby shots because of what is in them would do more harm to the autism and also he cannot take any kind of medications without consent. he has been sick for about 2wks now with a high fever and they won't give him anything, the fever has went down to 100 but he is a sick little boy. also this doctor has put him on this diet that is "no glueton" which means no wheat. he cannot have dairy products and everything he eats has to be bought from a special store and it is very costly. this is coting my son and daughter in law a forturne and i am not sure this is helping anything. he ate normal food until he was diagnosed at the age of 19mos. not having his baby shots really scares me and not having medication when he needs it is scary also. does anyone know anything about this? i need some information. any help would be appreciated. thanks Karen

I've always been the kinda person to make sure that everyone I Care about feels appreciated and knew somebody had their back. I can count 4 times this year when I Went out of my way to make sure a "friend" felt good on their birthday, especially if they got left hanging. Its early in the...
If you are buying prepared foods it will cost a small fortune. If you bake, it's only a little more expensive. It's a meat & potatoes kind of diet.
No shots, or delayed shots is common with ASD but no medication at all, especially if he's sick, sounds odd. I'd get a 2nd opinion.
Did the doctor do tests to determine the need for GFCF? Has he put your grandson on any other supplements?
I really hope your little guy gets better. Thinking of him and his family. x
Ps I hope I haven't offended anyone, it is just my opinion and what I think. x
My point to all this is that your son and dauhgter in law are not far off to what they are doing for your grandson but maybe they need a new dr. to help them. I would recommend that they give him motrin to help bring down his fever. I also wonder if your grandson tested high for candidia? Hugs and if I can help let me know. Denise
