Autism / Autism Spectrum Support Group
Autism is classified as a neurodevelopmental disorder which manifests itself in markedly abnormal social interaction, communication ability, patterns of interests, and patterns of behavior. Although the specific etiology of autism is unknown, many researchers suspect that autism results from genetically mediated vulnerabilities to environmental triggers.
son today didn't want to go to school

He said, "no, not go to school" He seems fine., although he was reaching for the ice cream this morning. And he was up at 2 in the morning and didn't go back to sleep until 4. And he didn't want to get up at 7:30. HE wanted english muffins which are his sick comfort food. But he's running around the house like a maniac.
I'm tempted to send him this afternoon, but the last time he said he didn't want to go to school, he ended up sick and threw up.
So maybe I should give him the benefit of the doubt and keep him home today.
Unfortunately, he doesn't have the conversational skills to tell me "why" he doesn't want to go, he only has the skills to tell me that he doesn't "want" to go.
What do you all think?

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
I only consider letting him stay home if he is really melting and bashing himself. Last Friday he was wide awake from 2 A.M. until 1 P.M. and he was so hyper he bashed his face twice, once in the pantry and another time on the bedroom door frame. On Monday he got dressed and was compliant, but Teus and Wed he did not let me dress him, but will dress himself when the teacher is very firm. I would ask the teacher if something upset him. My experience the teacher will have nothing to report because in our case they are CLUELESS, but you may find out something interesting.
Good Luck!
sometimes its just one ear.. how weird.
i say u did good keeping him home. Maybe he is feeling under the weather. It is the season.
stevens done that too, stay home and then he is fine!
I do recall making the thermomitor hot when i wanted to stay home from school lol..
But nah your boy just probably didnt feel 100%. School is hard and its harder when ya dont feel good. :)
If no temp then they stay in school. Make it clear you will not tolerate this unprofessional attempt to get out of "servicing my child's needs" and if he is out of sorts he needs OT sensory diet to relax his nervous flushes!
