I have a 4 1/2 yr old daughter with autism, and i try to keep her on a sleeping schedule although it is tough because she wakes frequently throughout the night for no reason, this sometimes interferes with her schooling and her day to day routine (depending on how long she is up the night before, sometimes 20 minutes sometimes 4 hrs). I was told that autistic children sometimes have issues falling asleep or staying asleep. For me it is getting her to sleep the whole night through, i have had people suggest that i try talking to her pediatrician about putting her on medicine to help her, i dont want to if at all possible, im just wondering if anyone else has these issues with autistic children or is this just something that is unique for her.
