Autism is classified as a neurodevelopmental disorder which manifests itself in markedly abnormal social interaction, communication ability, patterns of interests, and patterns of behavior. Although the specific etiology of autism is unknown, many researchers suspect that autism results from genetically mediated vulnerabilities to environmental triggers.
opinion - as parents with own exceptional children

I want your opinions as parents with exceptional children. A new news story in my neighbouring community regarding food allergies. These parents have children with deadly food allergies. Quite literally can die if barely exposed to certain foods. Should these parents be FORCED to homeschool? or are these children entitled to the same education and experiences as any "normal" child. Look in the food allergies group where I posted the article. It involves the Ontario Human Rights Commission.
I truely value your opinions as parents with exceptional children.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
I found this link as a result to the diet post, but in the site they talk about food allergy testing.
We seem to always have someone in the class with some diet requirement, whether it was gen ed or special ed. Why should a child be denied the right to bring peanut butter for himself in his own lunch box, just because some other kid can't eat it? I can understand the worry if they are pre school and the teacher gives out snacks, but a big kid should know to eat his own food, especially if he has a condition. I don't get it? If the needs of a student are not in consideration of education by of diet and hygiene why is it upto the school to regulate? If the building is making kids sick, that's another issue. If the teacher needs to be aware of the childs food allergy, then the nurse needs to regulate the lunch for the kid like medication.
When DD2 was unable to attend due to a car accident the school system sent a teacher out to the house for one-on-one for a full year.
Check the policy for number of medically excused absenses. At a certain point our School District is required to to HomeBound.
