Autism / Autism Spectrum Support Group
Autism is classified as a neurodevelopmental disorder which manifests itself in markedly abnormal social interaction, communication ability, patterns of interests, and patterns of behavior. Although the specific etiology of autism is unknown, many researchers suspect that autism results from genetically mediated vulnerabilities to environmental triggers.
steven had such a full fun day when it came dark and we were on our way to trick or treat, he crashed and burned on the way to our 1st house. So we didnt have to deal with it.
in the past people just are really nice, we usally go to peoples houses we know.
or the malls etc.
Did your son have fun?
Its hard i know..
how bout waiting in line for that Santa picture.
Gotta get there 1st thing.
I just make sure stevens having a good time and its all good. :)
So he didnt do the trick or trick thing, cuz he didnt want to, and thats OK!
but other than that, i love taken her out.
and after going to about 20-30 houses (I watch him and can tell when he has had enough--though I think most of it is that he is just ready to have some candy!) we head back home....
and then for the rest of the night I get to hear him clear as day say 'trick or treat'
ROFL
We've always filled in "trick or treat" if need be and that goes for my 2 year old granddaughter, who is perfectly normal.
My kids have always loved dressing up and pretending and having alot of fun. We enjoy it and it works for us.
But, I do worry about when the time will come that somebody says something because "he's too old" to be trick-or-treating. : (
Always worries.

Oliver can say "trick or treat" because it is reinforced with candy! Go Figure. I enjoyed our Fright Fest with Oliver at home watching Spongebob. I remember my AS nephew was little and some kid gave him candy that he did not like, and then chased him saying "no thank you" to give it back. Seems reasonable to me!
But, many years his costumes were his pj's. SpongeBob, Superman (this year & last year), pirate, pumpkin. All were pjs I bought and he wore them to bed on weekend nights as well as trick or treating.
Clothing has got to be so-so or he won't wear it. This year when he was Superman he wore wore his wind pants, his regular t-shirt with the superman emblem on the shirt and he let me "sew" his cape on. I tried pinning a cape on and he would have NONE of it. I tried putting a tie on it to tie around his neck. He HATED that idea. So, I sewed it on for the night. : )
Last year it was pj's and this year just a t-shirt with wind pants. But, Kris is still 'dressed up' . . . just not in a Halloween costume, per se.
: ) Be creative!!! : )
