i have seen this in a few posts and just thought i would start a topic. saracarter107 commented she doesnt have access to advocates....there are advocates everywhere! you just have to find them, every states website has links to special education resources in that state and there is always ARC.org, in every state that with enough notice and info will come to a meeting and advocate, they are out there you just have to find them. your school is OBLIGATED to give you the information on your states parents advocate program, every state has one, ask for it, we have Step, it is free and they send you books on everything you need to know and how to get it AND they know who the advocates are. check it out www.tnstep.org your state should have something like it. its the law! childrens hospitals also have info on advocates and so does every states autism society, dig, dig deep, you will find what you need, it will take time, while you are digging, learn everything you can... www.wrightslaw.com as for the 504, yeah we have it, hell she was the one that lied to me about adams ot records, when the stae called her and told her she better get things straight before i call and report them for hippa violations she was backstepping real fast, there were no ot records taken because there was no ot sessions, but they lied trying to not give the service and they forgot about hippa laws, hung themselves. learn, its all on the internet, one more thing, get the IDEA law book, tnsteps will even send you one, but since you are not in tn they will have to charge you, they will even send you everything they have sent me, but since you are not in tn they will chagre, i advice everyone to find their states parents training program, they are out there, your school should have the info, if they do not, ask them why they dont since the law requires that they provide you with that information once your child is put into the special ed program. ok, off my soapbox now :)
