Autism / Autism Spectrum Support Group
Autism is classified as a neurodevelopmental disorder which manifests itself in markedly abnormal social interaction, communication ability, patterns of interests, and patterns of behavior. Although the specific etiology of autism is unknown, many researchers suspect that autism results from genetically mediated vulnerabilities to environmental triggers.

My son just received his diagnosis on the 8th. Now I need some help. He is already going to start preschool on his 3rd B-Day(19th Nov.). He will also get OT and speech at school. My problem is I would like for him to get additional therapy(ABA, Floortime, ect...) however, insurance doesn't cover most of this and we are on very limited income. Is there financial help for Autism? Can he get disability? Also, I currently work two jobs and his daddy goes to school and works. I know I need to be home with Jarred and his siblings more but I cannot afford to. If he could get any kind of assistance maybe I could spend less hours @ my second job. If anyone has any advice please let me know. I live in Tennessee so if anyone knows the rules here maybe you could let me know. Thank You.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
Also, you can incorporate the therapy at home scattergorized throughtout the day.
Ex:
Speech therapy during play and use the z-vibe and tip before every meal that helps him feel his muscles in his mouth
The brushing as showed to you by an O.T. after breakfast, maybe once throughout the day, and after dinner...
If you get swings in a room, he can go on those during play and he'll prob. want to start going to use them at certain times.
These are just a couple examples that really give alot of input, and can be done as you can see throughout the day, not just having the appts. So it can be greater benefit as well when you can take these appts. and do them scattergorized throughout the day as part of a routine. I hope this helps.
