Autism / Autism Spectrum Support Group
Autism is classified as a neurodevelopmental disorder which manifests itself in markedly abnormal social interaction, communication ability, patterns of interests, and patterns of behavior. Although the specific etiology of autism is unknown, many researchers suspect that autism results from genetically mediated vulnerabilities to environmental triggers.

Ok so Cam (4yrs) is all of a sudden getting very aggressive in multiple situations- if he does not get his way he screams like someone is killing him and starts to kick anyone near him or throw things. If you go to get him, he will kick you or hit or bite. All the while screaming bloody murder and he develops this animal strength. If he is mad or upset about something, same thing- starts freaking out. Like haircuts or taking a bath or leaving to go somewhere else. I know that change bothers him and he used to just whine and cry but now hes starting to get very physical and its worrying me. When I tell him no, or get him ready to change situations, I close my eyes and bear down because I know whats coming. I know people are starting to think hes such a brat, but is it perhaps autism related? I wouldnt think so much except he gets this insane strength and seems to turn into someone else entirely. Then after one of his meltdowns today- I asked him why were you cryina and upset? He said " Cwy and scweam momma. Cam was cwyn and scweam. Shut door momma" I had shut the door to his classroom to get him to go in.
He hasnt talked in the third person in a long time and now that popped out. It worried me.
I just want to smack his butt when he freaks out like that to let him know he cant do that, but that completely traumatizes him and he just gets more angry and physical. If I sit him in time out, he kicks and screams and is just horridly loud. I wouldnt mind so much but he is in a class so I feel I need to do something.
One more example- he loves the button for the windows in the car and he was holding it down the other morning, I told him he could only do it for a couple more blocks and then it had to go up, he said nope! We pull into work and I tell him to let go of the button so I can roll the window up. He kept saying no, so I had Anyssa grab him so I could roll it up quick. He started yelling and screaming, I told her to jump out of the car quick because he was starting to swing at her. By the time I got to his side, he had wdged himself down behind my seat and was hanging onto the bar that adjusts the seat. I literally could not get him out. He was screaming window the whole time.
Help?!?!?!

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
The picture word schedual should help alot.
He needs to see* the change happening before it happeneds.
At that age they are also growing ya know, and getting more independent. He just needs help expressing it. Try giving him 2 choices, he can hold this car toy or this book but no more car buttons it is not a choice. He will tantrum and carry on. That is part of him learning his boundries.
