My son is almost 18 and for the first he has become violent. Two weeks ago he attacked me and even had me by the throat. I had to call 911 and the police and ambulance had to come. He ended up in the hospital for the past two weeks. Is this a common thing for children with aspergers to become violent when they get older? I also have two small boys in the home which can be very frustrating for my 17 year old. I would like to get him into a group home because I think it would be the best environment for him. I think he would benefit being around people his own age and he would feel more independent. Group homes also have access to things that as parents we don't (sad but true). The problem is that there is a 18 month to 2 year wait. That's a very long time for a young man who wants his independence. Any advise on how or where to find a group home that can get a teen in faster. We live in the Edmonton area(Alberta Canada).
