Autism is classified as a neurodevelopmental disorder which manifests itself in markedly abnormal social interaction, communication ability, patterns of interests, and patterns of behavior. Although the specific etiology of autism is unknown, many researchers suspect that autism results from genetically mediated vulnerabilities to environmental triggers.
Yesterday in the kitchen shortly after Elijah got home from school he started doing something (so minor I can't remember), but it was annoying me. So I got upset and said irritated "Why don't you do something constructive?! Say your ABC's that what you can do. Say your ABC's!" Knowing full well that he couldn't, but called myself making a point. Well, he shut me up!!!! He started "A,B,C,D,.....W,X,Y,Z." I was floored! I was NOT prepared for that. I ran to the room to get him a few skittles and told him that everyday he says his ABC's he would get some. Naturally he decided to say them 2 more times after that. I love the fact that he is learning although I don't always see progress right away, but it lets me know that his teachers do work hard with him. So...I just wanted to share my joy...thanx.

Awesome!!! I always find it amazing that our children pick up and know much more than we give them credit for. And they usually choose to display their "new" skills at the best times. Enjoy this achievement and the many more that's sure to come!

I gave my 2 week notice last Friday 13th. Now to join you fine people in a life of leisure and nothing else to do but to look out for myself....is it just me or does that sound pretty boring? My goal was to live to retire and I guess having to take early retirement because of health reasons wasn't exactly the way I had planned things. I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
