Autism / Autism Spectrum Support Group
Autism is classified as a neurodevelopmental disorder which manifests itself in markedly abnormal social interaction, communication ability, patterns of interests, and patterns of behavior. Although the specific etiology of autism is unknown, many researchers suspect that autism results from genetically mediated vulnerabilities to environmental triggers.
no my son does not have that, yet there are some children at my school that do. I just want to give you a BIG HUG and say welcome and i hope we all can support you!
Might not be much use to you, but sending my thoughts your way. Wishing you luck, and welcome aboard!
My son had very poor muscle tone from the day we brought him home from the agency (he was adopted). He was the floppiest baby I'd ever seen.
We did lots and lots of both physical and occupational therapy with him. One of the things that was wonderful was horse back or hippo therapy. Kris didn't like it initially, but he got over it.
There are just so many different things you can do with hypotonia. Best of luck to you, sweetie!!!
I've always thought Kris' extremely flat feet were also the result of hypotonia and finding shoes that work for him is a nightmare!!!
He is 13 now and still has some issues but most are "resolved" to the point of at least being considered non-issues.
He does continue to have problems with constipation and I give him magnesium oxide to help this.
hugs,
