I have an 11 year old niece that I think has Asperger's. In doing some research I have read many articles and looked at the symptoms and she has a majority of them. She will be starting middle school in the fall and I think this will compound the issues her parents already have with her. My question is....how do I tell my sister in law what I think? There is no way I can tell my brother because he is so uptight about things. However my sister in law really wants what is best for her daughter and I think she will be open to it. She is worried sick about my niece starting middle school in the fall and having an extremely hard time. I would appreciate any advice on how to broach the subject with my sister in law so I don't hurt her feelings or make her sick with worry before my niece can be evaluated. Also, is it strange that she is in the 5th grade and no one in the school system has picked up on it yet--if that is what it is. My sister in law is an elementary school teacher too. Thank you!
