So I have come back from Kansas and I am now working towards drawing up a plan of action for Matt. It looks like I will be moving there the end of June. I am going to be working with him about 30 hours a week in the summer as well as during the school year. The current goals that I have for him are going to the bathroom on his own, learning communication skills, and learning to swim. I have asked my aunt what options she is open to as far as teaching him communication skills and she said that they are doing a little sign language with him at school but she is open to whatever will help him. She is going to try and get me a copy of his IEP as well. As for as getting him to go to the bathroom on his own, she had him potty trained completely 2 summers ago then he went back to school and stopped. Any ideas why? Alos I would like him to try new foods as well if that is a possibility. So any ideas? Things that work and dont work? Anyone know of any grants that i could apply for to get him extra things. Any knowledge and help I would appriciate.
