Autism / Autism Spectrum Support Group
Autism is classified as a neurodevelopmental disorder which manifests itself in markedly abnormal social interaction, communication ability, patterns of interests, and patterns of behavior. Although the specific etiology of autism is unknown, many researchers suspect that autism results from genetically mediated vulnerabilities to environmental triggers.

i have called every resource in the state of TN and let me tell you, it really sucks that every thing is based on income in tn. we are far from rich. not even close. we have house payment, car payment, you know, all the bills everyone else has but because we are not living in the car adam does not qualify for any state paid services or grants....how unfair is that? so we have to decide, should we let everything go, hubby take a lower wage job so adam gets the things he so desperately needs? what is wrong with this @#$@##% country that says unless you are dirt poor you dont need services? no one can afford thousands of dollars for desperately needed therapies and all the other needs of children with special needs. they say the school is suppose to provide all of these services...but yet they do not police the schools and force them to do it....oh it would not do for me to be the one to make the laws for our kids with needs, heads would roll!
sorry i had to vent :)

I am sorry, P, that sucks, bigtime! You are right, these therapies cost so much! And well, we all know how the school's do in that area!I wish there was a way, to get these services for adam, if ya had more people to claim in the household then they would have to re-caculate the family's ability to pay???? I know allot of B.S. Just thinking on this one!!!!!!!!

I completely understand your frustration. a the services I would like to get for him have waiting list years long? I go ahead and put him on it but like many other parents, what are we suppose to do in the meantime? to me there are so many children out there now with autism that the system is overwhelmed and the "experts" haven't figured anything out as to what to do next. they are so busy trying to figure out what caused the epidemic of autism, that the rest of it is getting ignored. I am beyond the point of wanting to know what caused it. I want to know what the government and experts are going to do about it now. you know what keeps me up at night? my biggest fear...what is going to happen to my child if something happens to my husband and me?

We live in Georgia and are having the same trouble. I am so sorry that you and your family are having to go through this. I hope and pray the best for you and Adam. God bless.

What a great season during most difficult times. Thank you to everyone who participated as its YOU who make this group great and life a little more enjoyable. Again the time has gone too fast, but it has been a most fun football season. We had so many games rescheduled onto every day of the week. Mine boggling for Lukie to keep track of this chaos, but yet done perfectly well. The season...

Well, we are are the final games before the Super bowl in three weeks. Conference games are worth 6 points I believe with 6 points for exact total points for both teams. I believe Bugsbunny hit 30 points total for the Bills-Ravens game and got the extra 4 points (congrats to you Bugs). Catching up now is not going to be easy but that total points could be a game changer. So Kiddies, here...
