Autism is classified as a neurodevelopmental disorder which manifests itself in markedly abnormal social interaction, communication ability, patterns of interests, and patterns of behavior. Although the specific etiology of autism is unknown, many researchers suspect that autism results from genetically mediated vulnerabilities to environmental triggers.
Dietary subject for our kids

I have been reading on topics regarding bowel problems with our kids. Seems that 85% of Autistic children have some form of problems with gastrointestinal "gut" or "leaky gut" issues.
I have been doing research based on several items regarding this matter. The American pediatric Association publication based in October 2007, Management of Children with Autism Disorders, has eluded to this percentage as well as many other books that I have been reading.
It would stand to reason that a pro-active approach to the dietary intake should be looked at more closely.
We are going to start Brian on a dietary regimine due to "gut" issues, if you have had the chance to read Jenny Mcarthys book and cross reference the information she stated it so true, our kids have "Buddah" Bellies,, its the "gut" item.
Our Kids can not have a normal bowel movement and think about it.. Diet is a big part of it, We are going to purchase th " Special Diets for Special Kids Two" book this weekend. This hopefully will have success with Brian. I suggest we take the time to address this matter. It is scarry what Jenny and her son went through, and I would hate to see this with other parents.
Please spread the word about Dietary intake and look at the Vitamin regime she also started, we too are going to start implementing this with Brian.
I was also mentioned in the American Pediatrics publication that several different gastrointestinal issues will cause outbursts and aggresssion, example " meltdowns"as we know it to be.
Just food for thought.. give it a try .. you really have nothing to lose and you gain knowledge with this little bit of information. We hope that this works and will keep you posted on progress.
Suggested reading items and not for the faint at heart where swearing is noted, Jenny Mcarthy's book Louder than Words, Special Diets for Special Kids, Lisa Lewis, Gluetin and Casin Free foods. Lisa's book is referenced in many of the books I am currently reading and the association with many of the dietary topics are adding up,, making sense.
Anything is worth a shot.
I am so appreciative of the Books and the writers. We owe to our kids and ourselves to take a look at this area a bit deeper.

What a great season during most difficult times. Thank you to everyone who participated as its YOU who make this group great and life a little more enjoyable. Again the time has gone too fast, but it has been a most fun football season. We had so many games rescheduled onto every day of the week. Mine boggling for Lukie to keep track of this chaos, but yet done perfectly well. The season...

Well, we are are the final games before the Super bowl in three weeks. Conference games are worth 6 points I believe with 6 points for exact total points for both teams. I believe Bugsbunny hit 30 points total for the Bills-Ravens game and got the extra 4 points (congrats to you Bugs). Catching up now is not going to be easy but that total points could be a game changer. So Kiddies, here...
