Autism / Autism Spectrum Support Group
Autism is classified as a neurodevelopmental disorder which manifests itself in markedly abnormal social interaction, communication ability, patterns of interests, and patterns of behavior. Although the specific etiology of autism is unknown, many researchers suspect that autism results from genetically mediated vulnerabilities to environmental triggers.

ok so many people talk about not getting children vaccinated, and what happened recently i saw on the news. so why not vaccinate? wait, before you all get your panties in a wad, hear me out :)
i know that many people believe that vaccines cause autism, could be true, understand the concern, i really do. but i thought the belief was that it was the thermisil that causes the autism, not the actual vaccine itself. so why not get the vaccines without the thermisil? i know they are out there, my pediatrician has them, even the flu shot with out the preservative. so i know this is going to really cause a big stink, but if it is the thirmisil, then why not use vaccines without it? what if they are wrong? what if it is not the thirmisil and we have taken huge risks by not vaccinating our kids? i believe in science, i do really, but i also am the kind of person that i am willing to take percautions if the evidence is strong, but to trade on really really bad thing for another, that i have to see the hardcore 100% proof with my own two eyes to make a decision like that. i have already told my girls and all of my family to make sure the get the vaccines without thermisil, they have to request it, a good pediatrician will honor that request, if the pediatrician tries to talk you out of it then find a pediatrician that will do what you ask without trying to change your mind.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
As Julie said, the proof of vaccines actually achieving any great good are fairly limited. Apart from Smallpox and Polio - which were already on a sharp decline for other reasons when vaccination started - they haven't actually caused a serious decline in any condition. In fact, my own doctor told me that they base some diagnosis now on whether or not a person is vaccinated - eg. If you have been vaccinated you have acute bronchitis, if you're unvaccinated you have whoping cough.
Vaccinated children (and adults) still get the illnesses they are supposed to be safe from, but doctors tell them they would have had it much worse if they HADN'T been vaccinated - I don't know how many kids from school I've seen with chickenpox who were vaccinated.
My point, anyway, is that parents should have enough information to make a valid choice. For myself, I considered the risk of my child getting measles AND having a severe enough case to cause hospitilisation, long term effects or death (about 1 in 1000) didn't weigh up against the risk of him having a serious reaction to the vaccine causing hospitalisation, long term effects or death (about 1 in 200). Other people make their own choices, as they should, and I have no problem with that - I have a problem with misinformation.
chicken pox vaccine, and that her son had gotten c/p but had not yet broken out, fever was the symptom, he broke out a couple days after she had him in hosp. So I asked her, what gave him autism? She said the fever , thus the fever was from C/P and because he had not had the vaccine for it , he got the worst of it.I wanted to share this, and yet I still say , to each his/her own, we all have our beliefs, and a numourus amount of people can read the very same article , yet percieve it in many different ways, so who's to say what is written is right? or that what is written is interpreted to all in the same manner? Alex has had all his vaccines, yes we did delay some due to respiortory problems, non-related to any vaccine, but he has gotten them all. When he was small I demanded a cause, I sat down and had a heart-to-heart with his doctor, she told me that autism is clearly unknown of any single cause. I asked about the vaccines , she said that be it the case, Alex showed developemental delays long before many of his vaccines. I guess when ya live this life with your child for 14 years ya tend to just accept and deal with the issues at hand, what and how to prepare for their future.
