can someone please explain to me the difference between aspergers and autism. i have a niece that is 18 yrs old and all her life we knew something was wrong with her, she can not read or write, although she graduated this yr (shame on her school) its hard to hold a conversation with her but we can tell she wants to 'blend in' but i dont think she knows how. she is extremely overweight, i will guess her at about 285. i truly worry about her. she talks clearly but it seems like she is never sure of what to say in most situations. she can do nothing for herself. and i mean nothing. we love her so much and i just want to know if this sounds like aspergers to any of you. one other thing, i have never known her to tantrum or obsess over anything. she just has never been able to learn the basics of school and alot of self help things.
