So there is a 18 year old child where i work. He is non verbal with very few signs and he has autism. Loud noises bother him, which happen to be three other clients. He will get really upset and start beating himself in the head. He has broken his nose and bruised up his whole face. If he dosn't hit himself he goes after other kids or staff. (he is 5'11 and 215 lbs. Our behavior therapist told us there is nothing we can do for that. I have tried a lot of things with him, deep pressure on the arms shoulders back and feet. he really seems to enjoy that but he will still SIB and i can not stand to watch him hit himself. I have a month of to brain storm and research. If any one has a suggestion please let me know.
