Asthma Support Group
Asthma is a disease of the human respiratory system where the airways narrow, often in response to a "trigger" such as exposure to an allergen, cold air, exercise, or emotional stress. This airway narrowing causes symptoms such as wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness, and coughing, which respond to bronchodilators.

O.K., I had my follow-up doctor appointment and you were right, Rona, I had another spirometry test which came out fine; in fact, it was better than my first one (whoo yoo)! The pulmonologist (sp?) checked my throat and you can tell I had a lot of post nasal drip. At the end of everything, he told me I had Chronic Rhinitis so put me on Nasanex at night before bedtime. He also wants to see me in three weeks to see how I'm doing. I hope to one day go without seeing a doctor for at least 2 months! Oh well...it can always be worse, right?
Has anyone else use(d) Nasonex? If so, did it help?

yes, and yes. And it doesn't make my nose bleed the way Flonase did.

Thanks, Marah, I appreciate you letting me know.

Wow...maybe this is what I need. My allergist told me to use Flonase less often but I find this causes excess post nasal drip and nasal congestion. I'll ask her about Nasonex when I see her Thursday. Thanks!

I have used Nasonex also but the dr took me off that and put me back on the flonase. Now I also have to use an antihistamine(Not sure of the spelling) at night. I still sneeze like a frieght train. I am also having to use my inhaler more often now and not sure why.I have to go back next month so maybe something will change I may even ask about a nebulizer. Does anyone know how well they work?

Catnapper, I have used a nebulizer. It is a way to give yourself a breathing treatment. For me, it is short term relief. I haven't used mine in awhile...but I'm breathing better now. For awhile, I was using it 4 times a day. If your doctor thinks you need it, then ask him to prescribe one for you.

Marah
For me the nebulizer was a literal life saver. We lived 30 minutes away from the nearest hospital and had an all volunteer Rescue Squad who were notorious for not coming sometimes for up to an hour. I am convinced there were times I would not have survived long enough to get medical help. I have not used mine in over a couple of years because I get the allergy shots and have started exercises which have helped greatly. But I still keep it just in case.

The Nasonex seems to be helping me sleep at night as I do not have so much mucus so I am very thankful the doctor put me on it. So far, no side effects.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
