Asthma Support Group
Asthma is a disease of the human respiratory system where the airways narrow, often in response to a "trigger" such as exposure to an allergen, cold air, exercise, or emotional stress. This airway narrowing causes symptoms such as wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness, and coughing, which respond to bronchodilators.

My son started wheezing for the first time in the past few weeks. Once was when he was running outside...and we had just gotten a cold front in. Another time was when he was coughing and the 3rd time was when he started laughing hysterically. The wheezing only lasted 5 minutes or so but has me concerned. I myself suffer from exercise induced asthma. What do you think? Is he showing symptoms of asthma? He does have allergies. And how would a doctor check him if he is not having any symptoms?

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
The above link takes you to a survey which can check your symptoms and tell you if asthma is suspected. You can fill it out for your son.
Laughing is a huge trigger for me. So is cold air and exercise. I'm an adult asthmatic. Does your son have an asthmatic cough with his wheeze?
A pulmonologist can perform an acetylcholine challenge test and a pulmonary function test to rule out or confirm a diagnosis of asthma.
