Asthma Support Group
Asthma is a disease of the human respiratory system where the airways narrow, often in response to a "trigger" such as exposure to an allergen, cold air, exercise, or emotional stress. This airway narrowing causes symptoms such as wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness, and coughing, which respond to bronchodilators.

I recently went to the pulmonary MD and asked him for an AAP now that I am starting to breathe a little better. I was shocked by his reply. He said there isn't anything further to do! He explained that I was on all of the primary asthma medications already and if my peak flow numbers go so low that I cannot work, for example, then he'd put me on a round of steroids again, but that is it.
I was very surprised about this. Anyone else have similar conversations with such a bleak outlook? Now I'm just praying that I don't get bronchitis again anytime soon. I feel like I'm getting a cold again so this is concerning to me.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
I also have many allergies as well and I find if I keep them under control my asthma is generally all right.
For something like bronchitis you would need an antibiotic and if that does not clear it up cortisone as well.
Occasionally I take cortisone,50 mgms a morning for 3 to 6 days depending how bad my chest is.
I have developed COPD from passive smoking and I take spiriva and I find that keeps my asthma very well under control.
In the USA things we buy over the counter is Australia you cannot there and vise versa but I take beconase nasal spray as I find if I can keep my allergies ok my asthma is fine.Post nasal drip can go onto your chest and I cortisone to clear it up.
It is 4am in Australia so I am back to bed.
happy thanksgiving.
