I have had severe asthma since birth. It goes in peaks and vallies over the years, but the past year and a half has gone way downhill. I am now steroid depdendent and have been on more than 40 mg of steroids a day for over a year. My FEV1 is below 50%... and slowly getting lower. I am on all the asthma medication my docs can think of. They are now suggesting we try a chemotherapy drug called methotrexate or an antirejection drug such as cyclosporin or cellcept. I have been to National Jewish and they said the same things. i started IVIG 4 months ago, but have shown now improvement. Does anyone know any information on the effectiveness of these treatments? I would appreciate any information or experience you could give. Thanks.
