Hello, ladies and gentlemen. I'm 27 and I believe I may have Asperger Syndrome. I refuse to "self diagnose" because I am not a professional. I'm currently in counseling for other issues, namely depression and panic disorder, and for help with my "social problems". I'm thinking of pursuing a true diagnosis, but I'm wondering if it will truly help. I could go into detail about why I think I have AS, but suffice to say that my depression, anxiety, and bad childhood explain some of my issues, but not all, and I believe there is enough evidence for AS. I am already getting help for my problems, whether AS is the cause or not. If I have AS, I am fine with that, and fine with it if I do not. Perhaps I am simply a depressed, anxious, quirky introvert, or perhaps there's more to it than that. I don't know if a formal diagnosis would make a difference in my treatment. If anyone here was diagnosed as an adult, did this help you? Do you think it would help me?
