Asperger syndrome - also referred to as Asperger's syndrome, Asperger's, Aspergers or just AS - is one of five neurobiological pervasive developmental disorders (PDD), and is characterized by deficiencies in social and communication skills, normal to above normal intelligence, and standard language development.
Think I Have Asperger Syndrome--Now What?

I did not even know about this syndrome before doing research for a class on Interpersonal Communication. I lack the social skills in this area...Surprise, surprise!
I always just thought I was weird because that is what people would tell me. Now I am 26 and have truly no idea who I am or who I am supposed to be.
I have been on DS for Cerebral Palsy and ADHD, which I have. So I decided to look at Asperger on DS as well.
I took an Aspie-quiz to see if I may have some or most of the characteristics. When asked the questions, I just could not even begin to understand why I do this or think that. etc...It all was starting to make sense to me.....Until I got the the results.
Here they are:
Your Aspie score: 162 of 200
Your neurotypical score: 44 of 200
You are very likely an Aspie.
(that part I understand). But what about the numbers?

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
Defining yourself is a totally different thing all together though. AS doesn't lock you into any one thing. Just gives you a general map to locate where your behavior might be coming from. Trust me on this one thing though, at 26, you're just the right age to START defining yourself. If all your friends act as though they know "who they are" and see what their path through life is, they're either very blessed or need to put the crack away. It's just not the typical case. And while a lot is laid down when we're just babies, there's a lot of room for adjustments when we're in our mid 20's. There are a bunch of aspie success stories out there... maybe yours will be the next one! Good Luck.
