Things observed by my mom and outsiders...

I have a few posts on here and I am still searching for direction as I am sure you all can tell. On halloween my mom was observing my son. He is Non medicated for his ADHD and he is getting older. I know ADHD can lessen with time and I think for him it has... in major ways at least (he isnt bouncing off the walls 24/7) His violence has been controled througth appropriate settings And now the other things that are underlying stand out big time.
Here is the list my mom came up with when she was describing my son.
Withdrawn, In the back ground, Refrained from active participation in most activities at the party, barely talked to any one, when he did (including his grandma and my self) it was only a few words at a time. He didnt hold eye contact with hardly any one even people that have been in his life for long periods. MY mom attempted to talk to him but had to fish for responces and lead him in a full conversation. I have heard this from other people and honestly I have felt it to. I ask him about football games he is in and he excells here. He plays the entire game and is never side lined he plays offence AND defence the entire game. If asked how the game went he says fine... when he sacked the quaterback at least twice among other accomplishments. I would think most kids would be happy to brag to thier mom at least about how well they did in thier only focas in life. He never has friends over... maybe 10 times in 14 years... and a few were my doing. Never a sleep over... his birthdays are not spent with friends in attendance.
Like I mentioned he is also ADHD and has a history with Conduct Disorder. He had OCD tendancies as a young child obssessing over water and even now gets wrapped up in it if he starts to goof off with it. (hates showers thought I think thats a teen thing)
Any how are these other things common aspergers symptoms? I know by them self they do not mean aspergers, I just want to know if Im on the right track. He does have a history of birth trama to include lack of oxigen and nutriants to the brain. At 3 autisum was a conscideration but other symptoms were so much more pronounced.
Do these high functioning Autism types- are they very normal except for the small idiocencracies? (sp?) I am really searching for the best way to help him not a lable but the school needs lables to help him get the right classes... you know the drill... any input on these more subtle symptoms would be appriciated.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...

I should add his writting is that of maybe a 6th graders physically and his papers are not far from that... he should be going into the 10th grade next year yet is just starting 9th so mentally thats nearly 4 years behind in his writting ability.
How do I tell my son that his choice just isnt the best one for him? Or do I need to allow him to try? I just dont want him to ruin his chances for the things he loves and excells at because he think he can handle the load of main streaming. I think he wants to main stream because of social stigma with special ed and not attending school with his peers (thats a good start) but at the same time if we take social out of it (which he has problems with) educationally he just isnt there...
Sigh I want to be supportive but I just dont want to crush him and make him think I dont believe in him.
If your son's comfortable in the school he is already in, the school may have an integrated program, rather than relocate him to another school. Transitions are so difficult. I'd hate to think about making that one. However, if it helps him academically. It's such a toss up. Once one has a dx, and gets an IEP with the proper interventions, you may be able to get him some great help where he is presently. It's a tough decision, no matter what. Take care.
