Can anyone describe their child's experence with the other children in their class?
I have a son with Asperger's syndrome. He is now 16 years of age.
I am currently a collge student.
I am doing a study with Asperger's and peer acceptance.
My son did not have very good experiences with the other children in his class. Especially in elementary and middle school. In fact he prefered to be alone. Now that he is older he has a hard time because he sometimes wants to be part of the other's group but he does not have very good social skills.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
My son loves people and dikes to interact with them...but on his terms, so that doesn't really make for an equitable friendship.
At his therapist visit he referred to himself as a back-up-friend. There is a girl that will play with him on occassion. He told the doctor that sometimes she doesn't want to be his friend, but when she changes her mind he always takes her back.
My son is a very forgiving child.
I currently have him in chess club and hope he finds some kids that enjoy his personality.
Otherwise, my son stayed to himself or played with his siblings here at the house.
