Does this sound like a seonsory issue?

I'm not sure if any of you can really answer this...
For the last week now, I have been extremely hyper-sensitive to some sounds. The opening of the fridge door, typing, clicking of the mouse, turning a page of a book or notebook, the sound of keys on a phone, beeping on the computer, and other sounds... even the sound of rubbing if I rub my ear (its not so bad elsewhere, as it isn't as loud.)
This isn't very typical of me (probably partly because I have hearing problems)... but I have experienced a wide range of sensory issues with varying intensities on different days. I've also experienced a wide range of benefits from various techniques, depending on many factors...
Anyway... like I said, this has been going on for about a week. I am so hyper-sensitive that I actually am feeling pain... in my ears, in my body... I've been to the point where I'm so overwhelmed that I can't even stim.... just sit there in my own world, half-here to try to deal.
This hasn't been constant, but it keeps coming back. I've tried putting ear plugs in. Those foamy sort of kinds, but then I keep wanting to touch my ears... (I have a thing with touching my face, especially if there's something else there like those ear plugs) and then the noise of touching the ear plugs it very loud that it just as bad...
Does this sound sensory? Or could it be a physical problem?
I know you guys can't diagnose, especially over the Internet... just looking for opinions, I guess.
Has anyone experienced something similar.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...

Someone suggested that maybe my hearing is just improving and so I'm not used to sounds being at this level. I guess anything is possible (but I've had hearing loss since my very premature birth...)
I have to call my doctor anyway on Wednesday, so I will ask about this then if it is still occurring. It is quite distressing....
My son will have hearing issues too, he cant tell me what he feels but he is extramly sensitive to sounds. Hes getting better tolerating them now. when he is under the weather it is harder for him to deal w. sounds.
He will also pick up new of different sensory issues. Thats why I ask could it be a new sensory and i dont know what I didnt think, but ur hearing and all maybe it is getting better, so u be like steven super senistive to sounds.
I think I'll still talk to the doc anyway.... it's reallly interfering. If it *is* a medical thing, I it would be nice to be cleared up. If a sensory thing.... well, I guess I need to find new techniques, as my bag of tricks isn't helping for this one... At least it isn't constant...
Question, since my boy cant talk, what does it feel like when u are overloaded w. sound, surroundings?
what can i do to help him? I usally just get him out of where we are, but it is so hard for him...

Take it easy why push it life is just too damn short.

Typically for me it isn't *just* sound... its the visual as well (tactile is typically other times, as you don't always need to be touching things like that.....) But, anyway, there just feels like there are too many things going on. Sometimes things stop making sense fully. I can get panicky (like a panic attack.) It's been to the point where I can do nothing but stare into space or just cry because it almost hurts. Thoughts get jumbled. With what I've been experiencing now... My ears hurt inside. And I just want to turn everything off. It's making my whole body hurt and I feel so overwhelmed.
UPDATE: I called my doctor (well, the nurse) and she asked if I called my psychiatrist. I hadn't thought of that, but I called. Well, I called the on-call guy, as mine is on vacation. I told him what I was experiencing, explained that I have been diagnosed with PDD and have sensory issues, that this feels similar but the different because it is repeating like this and such. He asked if there had been changes. "No - not when it started at least." He asked about my meds. It was then that I realized that I had just had an increase only a couple days before this hypersensitivity started. He said something about how the sensory issues may be triggered by chemical imbalances or something and that thing change of medicine could be causing it... something like that... but he didn't tell me what to do, just to call my doc on Monday when he got back. Thinking today was Friday, I was going to just continue at this higher dose until then, but I think I willl cut myself back down to the low dose and talk to doc on Monday. Thanks you guys... and hope I help, stevensmom
sometimes there is no warning and wham he is in a total meltdown. No warnings that I saw.
i do the best i can to give him space and that he is safe and not banging his head w/his hands. if he goes into a total what "meltdown"? slaps the sides of his head i have to use a helmet so he doesnt hurt himself.
Its horrible. anything that you can give me insight on is appreciated more than i can say.
I hope ur feeling better today!
