I have a, just turned, 3 year old son and I am having him checked out in about 3 weeks. He has some pretty abnormal behaviors and up until he wa almost kicked out of daycare, I didn't give them much thought. I just thought my son was quirky.
Please let me know if any of his behaviors sound farmiliar to things you have encountered yourself or with your children...
Halloween was 4 days ago and he still insists on wearing his Superman costume... EVERYWHERE.
He screams and cries when he takes a bath. And tries to avoid it until I pick him up and put him in it.
He screams and cries when you turn the stereo up. When he used to dance and love it loud.
He like to wear long sleeves and we live in Florida.
He eats just fine and swallows food whole, like we are going to take it from him.
He just began being agressive. He indiscriminately bites. He shoves hard for no apparent reason.
I have been trying to teach him to say "I" he still says "my".
He repeats me when I am having conversations.
He mimics others.
He won't look at me, when he doesn't "feel" like it. Try as I might calling his name he ignores me.
He has been doing puzzles since he turned 2.
He follows me everywhere. He always has to know where I am and the only way he plays is if I am within sight. And he touches me alot. Sitting in my lap pushing my leg with his feet. Wants to be held by me all the time.
He plays alone, even with others it is a simultaneous play. Like mimicking.
He doesn't like certain things touching his skin. "materials"
He cried alot as an infant. To the point people didn't want him around.
Thanks... Yvonne

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
Check out my site, http://chat1autism.wetpaint.com/ and the slideshow is great for criteria, although the criteria in my slideshow is more for medium autism... but also are present in Aspergers.
Maybe you should get him screened...
Hugs,
Kris
It could be. If you're in the US you can request a full-team Special Ed evaluation for him, or get him evaluated free by the local regional center. Check into that, or maybe your health insurance will refer you to a pediatric psychiatrist or neurologist who will diagnose him properly.
Someone should be able to do a differential diagnosis with him, fairly easily.
Good luck!
(i'm an aspie)
but it is best to get a porofessional opinion
My son has almost the same behaviors and they are telling me that he could have aspergers sindrome.Just have him tested the earlier the better and you will be able to help your son so much more.I'll pray for you
