Arnold-Chiari malformation, sometimes referred to as 'Chiari malformation' or ACM, is a congenital anomaly of the brain. Arnold-Chiari Malformation II occurs in almost all children born with both spina bifida and hydrocephalus, but ACM I is typically seen in children and adults without spina bifida.

Actually, my son had his decompression surgery 7 weeks ago. From the beginning he didn't feel better at all. The recovery never got easier. Two weeks ago....I took him to his Optomotrist and found out his double vision was due to his optic nerves swelling. He also had a pool of fluid in his lower skull area. We went to the emergency room and they did an MRI which confirmed the spinal fluid was backing up. Our neuro drained his incision area 3 times last week...each time 130 cc's of fluid had built up. They decided to redo the surgery...and found out that 2 stitches had torn from the decompression surgery. They patched him up..and did a lumbar drain for 3 days. As of today, he is home and feeling tremendously better!! I am telling this story because I know so many people sometimes need answers and help understanding why they feel a certain way. Thank goodness he is doing better!

I gave my 2 week notice last Friday 13th. Now to join you fine people in a life of leisure and nothing else to do but to look out for myself....is it just me or does that sound pretty boring? My goal was to live to retire and I guess having to take early retirement because of health reasons wasn't exactly the way I had planned things. I just can't stay in that building that is reeking mildew...

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
I hope your son continues to improve
I am soooo glad he is feeling better, and on the mend. I can tell you that I did heal after they drains came out. I did not want to go back in a 3rd time.
Hugs to mom and son (((HUGS)))
