To those of you women in your mid to late thirties and forties who are experiencing anxiety for the first time in your life or have only experienced it in recent years please be aware that this could be a symptom of perimenopause. Symptoms of perimenopause can occur up to 10 years before menopause and is caused by hormone fluctuations. My doctor wasn't to willing to agree with me but I never experienced anxiety until the age of 38. Since then I have noticed other perimenopause symptoms. If this is the case please know that you are not going crazy and that this phase will eventually end. There are a lot of things that can help you through this time in your life. My grandmother told me that she thought she was going crazy when she went through menopause. My mom started having similar symptoms as I when she was my age but had some additional physical problems which necessitated a hysterectomy. She was a completely different person after the hysterectomy and she immediately felt better not only physically but emotionally. Changes in diet, supplements, and regular exercise go along way in helping women through this change.
