Hi people,
This has no doubt been a post before, but I thought i'd ask anyway.
So, I'm learning ways to deal with my anxiety, and my days are getting easier. I'm not on any meds, but I have this problem:
It's cold and wet here in the UK right now, but after falling asleep, I wake up sweating and have to kick my duvet off. Then I wake when I move. Then I fall asleep again and wake up having disturbing dreams, then i'm anxious and can't get to deep sleep.
It's like i'm asleep, but aware of my every movement. I'm breathing thru' my mouth, so have to drink water as my throat goes dry.
I look at the clock and it's 02:30 and I think "Aw crap...so long to go". I can't get comfortable and toss and turn for 3 hours and check the clock again - 03:10 "I HATE THIS!"
I've tried reading, window closed, window open, lavender oil burner, relaxation CDs, music, TV etc etc...nothing lets me get into that deep sleep mode.
Actually falling asleep is not too bad, but staying asleep and getting into 'deep sleep' state is just not happening.
I finally get out of bed feeling like warm goats poop and hardly ready to take on the world.
What can I do? Any suggestions for calming me down without mind numbing benzo drugs?
HELP!!!

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
I'll pour in crap loads of that relaxing herbal bath sludge stuff that I got the other day.
"Radox" or something....
I can also say that I can relate to the not getting a deep sleep lately. I feel like I'm in a state of sleep and awakeness and it's very strange and not restful.
Good luck to you!
Thanks for the advice everyone.
Plenty of exercise and fresh air is always a good one too.
