Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

Ok, I have had what I thought was some kind of viral stomach bug for the past 2 weeks. Went to the doc and they ran loads of tests, and gave me some pills-the pilss have done nothing. I just got a call from my doc saying that blood, stool and urine sample are ALL normal.
He wants me to see him in a n hour and I don't not what to say. This bug has basically made really sick on/off-but no throwing up-and sometimes I have felt fine-but it ALWAYS gets worse the minute I leave the house.
Could this be my anxiety??? Maybe I don't have a bug-but my body is just reacting-in the last couple of months my boyf cheated on me, and my mum is kicking me out, I can't find a better job, and my brother moved to another country. I think this may have all got on top of me.
BUT...I've never really discussed my anxiety with my doc-and I'm scared if I bring this all up, they'll assume that I am just making myslef ill-fob me off and stick me on some waiting list to see a counsellor, which could take months...
Should I tell him everything-or assume this is a physical bug thing???

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
It could be anxiety, but i'd come clean and mention your concerns to your doc. Unfortunately, most GPs (most that I have ever seen)in the UK seem not to know much about anxiety or depression as it's not their field and will end up referring the patient to a mental health team on the NHS.
This is what they done for me and I have to wait around 3 months for any treatment, which I find is rediculous...but it's not their fault as they are so strectched.
It could also be your IBS playing havoc. I've had several weeks with IBS-D where I thought I had a gastric virus, but after they tested, it was all ok so they just said 'IBS related'. It took ages for my bowels to calm down and I was eating Imodium like sweets.
Just mention your anxiety and ask your doc if they think it could be related.
Hope all goes well,
Stu

Sorry to hear your having a tough time at present.
I went to the doctors with a strange numb sensation in my left wrist/forearm, which as you can imagine sent me into fits of anxiety. The doctor examined me and couldn't find any apparent cause, so I mentioned I was suffering with anxiety alot lately but he didn't seem concerned or think it was linked. The numbness went after a few days and is still a mystery!
So to cut a long story short! My advice would be to tell them the facts (rather than your emotions) and let them decide what they think the cause is. Remember that anxiety and depression are as common as flu, so they shouldn't be too surprised if you tell them.
Good luck. I hope you feel better! I've been where yo uare right now and it is no fun.
