General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

I'm trying to tough it out by not taking meds, and since i've not taken any i haven't been able to sleep at all.Anyone else have this problem?

I used to have troubles sleeping. Just know that the more you focus on it, the worse it's going to get. Sleep is something that will come in its own time no matter what you're doing. Your body will automatically fall asleep. Just lay down when you're drowsy, read a book or a crossword puzzle then lay quietly until sleep comes. Or, try hypnosis- like a cd or something that you can listen to before bed. I find that this helps me sleep like a rock!!!!! Good luck!

Sorry to hear that you can't sleep,,,thats a nightmare in itself. I know that when I stop taking a med,,,,it messes with my sleep,,I have trouble falling asleep all the time,,and I do have to take a med to help. Have you tried,,not going to bed,,until you just about cant hold your eyes open,,,or maybe a nice bath before bed. Since you are trying to,,not take a med,,you may have problems with sleep,,for awhile. It should go away,,,but please dont go too many nights without sleep,,,thats no good,,makes you feel worse in many ways. I do wish you the best,,and hope that sleep will come.

Don't blame you for wanting to use less Xanax. I was on it and decided to quit it all together cause of the horror stories I heard about coming off it. I take only 2 Klonopins (1mg tabs) every other night or less sometimes to help me sleep. I have found though what helps me to sleep is if I keep myself busy doing something (on my feet) during the day, I sleep better at night. I just get worn out. But the other posts offer great suggestions as well...bubble baths and reading or watching tv to take your mind off of what is making you anxious can help. It's really hard to do though I know cause if your mind is racing, it doesn't want to focus on anything else. If that's the case, then you may need to switch meds and continue taking them as needed. I know it sux, but not getting sleep is worse in my experience. Take care and best wishes for a peaceful nights sleep. :)

I gave my 2 week notice last Friday 13th. Now to join you fine people in a life of leisure and nothing else to do but to look out for myself....is it just me or does that sound pretty boring? My goal was to live to retire and I guess having to take early retirement because of health reasons wasn't exactly the way I had planned things. I just can't stay in that building that is reeking mildew...

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
